- Make sure batteries are installed and the product is working.
- (Optional) Apply ultrasound gel/ aloe vera gel in order to reduce the static.
- Get a towel and have it beside you for easy cleanup once you're done
- Lie down flat on a couch/bed. A full bladder will also help to catch a smaller fetus's heartbeat. Use lots of gel to have maximum static reduction. In the beginning, your baby is tucked away really deep and it can be hard to find the heartbeat.
- Gently rock the probe from side to side making sure to not miss any area of the bottom part of your stomach until you find the heartbeat.
- You will clearly see the heart rate in beats per minute (BPM) on the screen. Remember the fetal heartbeat will be between 120 and 180 beats per minute which is a lot faster than any adult's heartbeat.
